In a bid to equip students with essential skills for the digital age, the Yobe State Universal Basic Education Board (YSUBEB) has commenced a comprehensive computer training program for over 100 students in Potiskum Local Government Area.

The three-week training, held at the Vocational School of Potiskum LGA, is specifically designed for JSS2 and JSS3 students, with the primary objective of empowering them with basic computer skills.

According to the Executive Secretary of YSUBEB, Mallam Isa Shettima, the training is a core component of the board’s strategic plan to ensure that students acquire essential skills for the 21st century.

“The importance of computer skills cannot be overemphasized,” he stressed. “This is one of the reasons we are training them.”

The Executive Secretary, Shettima, further emphasized that the training is a deliberate effort to bridge the digital divide and prepare students for a technology-driven future. “We organized this training to equip our students with the necessary skills to compete favourably in the digital age,” he said.

One of the beneficiaries, a JSS3 student of Government Day Junior Secondary School Kara, expressed gratitude to YSUBEB for the initiative. “I am very grateful for this opportunity,” the student said. “I urge YSUBEB to continue with this initiative, as it will greatly benefit us and our community.”

Another student, Fatima Umar, a JSS2 student, commended the Yobe State government for investing in their future. “I want to thank the Yobe State government for providing us with this opportunity to learn computer skills,” Fatima said. “This training will help us to become more competitive in the future, and we are grateful for the government’s support.”
