The Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Universal Basic Education Board (YSUBEB), Alhaji Isa Shettima, has reaffirmed the board’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure, with a focus on renovating more classrooms in 2025.
Speaking to Kanempress on Friday in his office in Damaturu, Alhaji Shettima emphasized the need to provide a conducive learning environment for students. “Our primary goal is to ensure that more schools are revamped this year, addressing the growing demands for quality education in Yobe State,” he said.
Shettima explained that the renovations are part of a broader strategy to enhance the standard of basic education across the state.
He noted that significant efforts have been made to ensure schools are well-equipped and meet acceptable standards. “Education is the foundation of any society, and we are committed to giving our children the best start in life through improved facilities,” he added.
The Executive Secretary disclosed that several schools have already been identified for immediate intervention. These include both primary and junior secondary schools in rural and urban areas. “We have conducted an assessment of schools in dire need of renovation, and work will commence shortly in phases,” Shettima revealed.
He further emphasized the role of community support in achieving the board’s objectives. “We urge parents, teachers, and community leaders to support these efforts. Together, we can ensure that every child in Yobe State has access to a quality education in a safe and conducive environment,” he stated.
Alhaji Shettima also acknowledged the support of the state government under Governor Mai Mala Buni.
He praised the administration for prioritizing education, describing the governor’s commitment as “instrumental to the successes recorded so far.”
He concluded by assuring residents that the board would remain transparent and accountable in its operations. “We are not just renovating classrooms; we are building the future of Yobe State. This is a collective responsibility, and we are confident that, with everyone’s support, we will achieve our goals,” Shettima said.
It was learned that the planned renovations align with the state government’s broader agenda to strengthen education and ensure that every child has access to quality learning facilities.
