Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has once again shown strong leadership and compassion in the face of disaster, rushing immediate help and heartfelt condolences to communities affected by recent floods and windstorms in Damboa and Askira-Uba.
Tragedy struck the Wovi and Gumsuri communities of Damboa Local Government Area, where heavy floods claimed the lives of two women and left several families homeless. In Askira-Uba, the Rumirgo community was hit by a fierce windstorm that damaged homes and public infrastructure.
Governor Zulum, in a statement through his media aide Dauda Iliya, described the events as “deeply distressing” and extended his sympathy to the families affected. “My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families and all those impacted by these disasters,” he said.
Wasting no time, Zulum directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to deliver immediate relief materials to victims in Wovi, Gumsuri, and Rumirgo. “No one will be left without support,” the governor assured, adding that aid had already been sent to Rumirgo.
Renowned for his hands-on governance and tireless dedication to his people, Governor Zulum also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with federal agencies to reduce the impact of natural disasters. He urged communities to pay attention to early warning alerts to help prevent future losses.
Once again, Governor Zulum’s swift action and empathy shine as a beacon of hope in a state that continues to recover from years of hardship.
