The newly inaugurated board of the Nigerian National League (NNL), the second tier football competition in Nigeria, has set up a five-man rules and regulations/club licensing committee to review its framework and enhance the operations of the league.
From its inaugural board meeting, the NNL, headed by George Aluo, said its members were mindful of the expectations of the parent body, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and the football lovers, and promised to build a league everybody would be proud of.
The board charged the chief executive officer to embark on aggressive sponsorship drive to secure credible partners for the league.
It agreed that only stadia that meet the required NNL stadium facilities criteria should be approved for the 2023/24 season. The secretariat was mandated to request all clubs to submit venues for their home matches.
The board approved the 2023/24 calendar of activities, as well as 2023/24 league season budget as presented by the NNL secretariat.
The board proposed a meeting with the leadership of Club Owners Association, while directing that the relegation playoff is concluded before the end of July.
