The Borno State Government has swiftly responded to a humanitarian crisis brought to light on social media, providing urgent relief to a family struggling with acute malnutrition in Maiduguri.

The Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, led by Hon. Commissioner Hajiya Zuwaira Gambo, quickly mobilized resources to support the family.

The government’s comprehensive support package included a range of essential items to address the family’s dire situation.

Kanempress noted that food items such as rice, Garin Masara, Garin Biski, and sachets of Maggi were provided, along with 25 litres of cooking oil, to help alleviate the family’s malnutrition challenges.

Additionally, household supplies like detergent, Vaseline, mattresses, and blankets were also included in the package.

It was learned that the government provided a cash grant of N20,000 and secured a rented apartment for the family, who had been living in a dilapidated house due to financial difficulties.

The government’s intervention has sparked an outpouring of support from individuals and organizations, including the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, who has dispatched a team to assess the family’s situation and identify areas for further assistance.

The family has expressed deep gratitude to the Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, and the Honourable Commissioner for their timely and compassionate response.
