The President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari has called on the leaders of the political parties in Chad to show patriotism by participating in the process of returning the country to the path of democracy.
While speaking with the head of the military regime, General Mehmet Idris Deby-Itno, during a visit he made to him on the sidelines of the United Nations meeting that is being held in Doha, Qatar on Sunday.
President Buhari said, “I see the progress that is being made in your country, as a neighbor, I sleep with the issue of your country, and I wake up with it in my heart”, according to a statement by the spokesperson of the Nigerian president, Mallam Garba Shehu took it out.
“I sympathize with you, not because you are young, but because of the position taken by some groups abroad such as Libya, even though this is a problem you inherited from your father,” Buhari said.
Other groups that think they are strong should cooperate to save their country.”
President Buhari thanked the president of the military government of Chad for his visit and assured him that “as your neighbor I am always ready to listen to your requests for advice, on politics and security and other aspects”.
On his part, the Chadian military leader thanked President Buhari for the support he is giving him and his country as the country prepares to return to the path of democracy, which he said is progressing as it should.
He also wished Buhari the best of luck and congratulated him on the success of democracy in Nigeria, saying “We hope to continue to see you even after you step down from power”.
