CELEBRATING AN ICONIC SON OF BORNO, SEN KAKASHEHU LAWAN S.A.N

It’s often said that lawyers are caregivers and problem solvers. They must set aside their personal problems, which many times are bigger than their clients wether be it serious or not

However, today i want to say a few words of jubilation and beatitude, in the honour of Sen Kakashehu Lawan SAN, unless I’m wrong and peharps forgot about history, Sen Kakashehu lawan is the first young and dedicated lawyer to earn the title of SAN, ans the first in his generation from Borno state , and from the Kanuri tribe stock. This i believe is the defining moment for every ambitious lawyer to work hard and dedicate his or herself to their profession and also be inspired by the highest honour given to any lawyer, although I’m not a lawyer, but i know for sure that for a person to bear the status of a S.A.N, it’s by all means not an easy task, and i believe being the echelon or the highest level ome can attain in the legal terrain, it takes more than just the ordinary

Peharps there are many people who have been S.A.Ns from Borno, but surely what distinguished Sen Kakashehu lawan is attaining that feat at his age and coming from a humble.kanuri tribe. From what i learnt he is the youngest person that bears the title of SAN, at least in the kanuri speaking people and probably even other tribes in Borno state, and that goes to show that sometimes its not your age or your status in the society but your relentless effort, brilliance and intelligence that counts, for that i believe the honour given to him is well deserved.

There are two types of people who will tell you that you cannot make a difference in this world: “Those who are afraid to try and those who are afraid you will succeed” a simple qoute but full of meaning, and without sounding immodest Sen Kakashehu Lawan deserves to earn the title of a senior advocate of Nigeria, his journey through the trials and tribulations in the legal battle field saw his ascendance from a simple lawyer, then an adviser on legal matters to the government of kashim shettima, who as it happens is the vice president of Nigeria today,

Sen kakashehu lawan later became a member executive council of his excellency kashim Shettima as a commissioner of justice and chief legal officer, as fate will have it, he is now a distinguished senator of the federal republic of Nigeria representing Borno central senatorial district. Indeed one can predict even at that time that, if you are good at what you do and commit yourself to achieving a certain goal time often favours a prepared mind, thus he waited for his time and this is his time..

Ordinarily, it’s often not an issue of discussion because an intelligent lawyer is honoured as a senior advocate, it testifies that you have the capacity and requisite qualification to become one, however the honour is given to lawyers who are seen as elderly or who have contributed a lot in terms of intellectual capacity and significant amount of character, however, Sen Kakashehu lawan meets all the criteria that qualifies a person to be among the ” big leagues” in the Nigerian legal platform, and because the world is evolving knowledge is also evolving, age no longer matters in areas where the most important thing is what you have upstairs and how intelligent and experienced you are and not how old you are.

As a son of Borno, i feel proud and immensely filled with elation that he has demonstrated that everyone can be anything if one is focused and determined, this is also an occassion to attest to the fact, given the trajectory of his life as a humble and noble person, this honour only inspired him to be more productive and then be a stepping stone or an inspiration for young lawyers to work hard and aspire to also become senior.advocates just like him.

Sen Kakashehu has broken any jinx that exists in placing a young man to become a S.A.N, he was able to break through the barriers and challenges and rise to the top of his profession , that is what informed my decision to write this piece on him and to join and honour him in felicity as he is as of today the youngest S.A.N ( to the best of my knowledge) from Borno state and most specially his creed and ethnicity as a kanuri man. Peharps If i were among the people who nominate people to be a part of history by recording a person to be in the Guinness book of world record, I’ll surely endorse sen Kakashehu lawan because he has broken the record and set the precedence for other hardworking and dedicated young lawyers like him to earn the title of a senior advocate of Nigeria.

I feel particularly proud of him as i believe i speak for thousands of people from Borno and even beyond that celebrate and honour him. He, i reckon will change the narrative and bring to bear his experiences and outstanding performances indeed his admission into the highest body of legal profession in Nigeria is not just for him or his family but for the entire state

I wish Sen Kakashehu lawan the very best in his endeavour and relentlessness to persue his dreams of becoming a senior advocate, and now,.Nigerians should know, despite the crisis and deficit in education in the north and the notion some people have about the literacy of northerners, this epitomizes the quality of the people of Borno as being among the best. He walked through the system, burdened with challenges from boko haram and what not, but he persevered, remaining resolute in working hard to make that difference,and build a legacy we so much yearn for , but only a few of us can ge

As of this moment, Sen kakashehu lawan has proved beyond any reasonable doubt that it takes humility, character, intelligence, perseverance, tenacity, and above all dedication and determination to be recognised by those who are responsible for awarding such a glorious honour on him.

He is young, strong, amazingly brilliant,chivalrously outspoken, he is someone who dares the impossible, afterall they said “He who dares, conquers”, undoubtedly Borno is blessed with a lot of intelligent people because of the existance of knowledge that predates back to over a 1000 years of scholarship of knowledge and that signifies the fact that one of us is today a senior advocate of Nigeria. May this noble title you have earned be a milestone that guides other young and prospective lawyers in Borno to chase their dream no matter what the odds are

While i congratulate Sen kakashehu lawan i hope and wish that he will do well to mentor and inspire others to follow his footsteps for these footsteps are signs of providence for our youth who are either studying or practising law to take a cue from. Finally I’ll end this post by this simple qoute “Extraordinary things are always hiding in places people never think to look.” however this time we have seen a manifestation of the extraordinary in Sen Kakashehu lawan S.A.N.
