EU suspends security aid For Niger

The EU has suspended all security cooperation it has with Niger following the take over of power in a coup.
This happened after the US had declared its “unflagging support” for ousted president Mohamed Bazoum, seen as a key Western ally against Islamist militants.
Head of the presidential guards unit General Abdourahmane Tchiani had earlier declared himself the new leader in Niger .
General Tchiani attributed insecurity, economic woes and corruption for seizure of power.
