In a world where the contributions of unsung heroes often fade into the background, there are exceptional individuals whose dedication, leadership, and selfless service stand as pillars of inspiration. Comrade Engineer Prince Okuboyejo Kemi is undoubtedly one of those giants, and it is with profound respect and admiration that we, the RATTAWU VON Lagos Chapter, honor his remarkable journey as he steps into a well-deserved retirement.
A founding father of RATTAWU, not just in the Voice of Nigeria (VON) but across Lagos State and the southwestern – Nigeria, Comrade Okuboyejo’s career is a testimony to his strong commitment to advancing the welfare of Nigerian workers. His contributions span decades, and his influence within the labor union movement will be felt for generations to come.

A Groundbreaking Legacy of Leadership
My path first crossed with Comrade Prince Okuboyejo in 2016 while planning the inaugural Media Summit to commemorate Nigeria’s Independence, with the theme, Media Insurgency and Economy: The Role of Voice of Nigeria in Rebuilding and Sustaining Nigerian Image. The summit, which doubled as an awards ceremony to honor outstanding Nigerians, became a reality thanks to the support of our forward-thinking former Chairman, Comrade Poppola, and the visionary leadership of Comrade Alhaji Shitta Sulaimon, then Chairman of RATTAWU. Their collaboration paved the way for an event that brought together leaders from all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria, as well as esteemed traditional rulers, to celebrate national unity. That’s how we sphereheaded and hosted the summit.
It was in the wake of this significant achievement that I first came to know Comrade Okuboyejo not only as a colleague but as a mentor and friend—an individual whose wisdom, guidance, and mentorship would become invaluable in my own union activism. His tireless work, boundless energy, and commitment to the cause made him a true icon within RATTAWU and beyond.
A Mentor and Guiding Light
Comrade Okuboyejo’s distinguished career includes his tenure as the Chapter Chairman of RATTAWU VON Lagos, Chairman of RATTAWU Lagos State Council, and Vice President of RATTAWU Southwest. His influence as a founding father of the union in Lagos and the southwest is immeasurable. But it is perhaps his role as a mentor to countless unionists that will leave the most lasting impact. His guidance, both practical and philosophical, has shaped the careers of many, ensuring that the future of the union remains in capable hands.
Throughout his career, Comrade Okuboyejo has exemplified a leadership style that balances vision with pragmatism. He was not just a leader by title; he was a leader in every sense of the word—steadfast in his principles, unflinching in his commitment to justice, and always ready to stand in the gap for the marginalized and oppressed. His strong pursuit of fairness and his charisma have inspired many, and his absence will undoubtedly leave a void in the union movement.
A Well-Deserved Retirement
As Comrade Prince Okuboyejo takes his well-earned rest after years of tireless service, the RATTAWU VON Lagos Chapter, under the leadership of Comrade Zannah Ibrahim Mustapha, extends heartfelt congratulations. Your legacy, Comrade, is one of excellence—both in your professional capacity and in your unwavering dedication to the welfare of Nigerian workers. You have set a benchmark that all who follow in your footsteps will strive to meet.
As you enter this new chapter of your life, we wish you continued happiness, health, and fulfillment. May the years ahead bring you peace, joy, and the satisfaction of knowing that your legacy will endure, as the seeds you’ve planted continue to bear fruit in the hearts and minds of future generations.
Congratulations, Comrade Prince Okuboyejo Kemi. You have earned the title of Distinguished Senior Citizen, and the RATTAWU family will always honor and cherish you for your outstanding service.
With deepest respect and admiration,
For and on behalf of the RATTAWU Family Comrade Zannah Ibrahim Mustapha Chairman, RATTAWU VON Lagos Chapter
