A new investigation has been opened by the International Criminal Court, ICC into alleged war crimes in the Darfur region of Sudan.
Court’s chief prosecutor, Karim Khan, said the reports included attacks on civilians, mass rapes and touching of homes and markets.
He said the investigation would be carried out under an existing mandate for Darfur as far back as 2005.
The probe had led to genocide charges against Sudan’s former President Omar al-Bashir.
Ethnic violence had increased between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary RSF.
