The National population commission (NPC) in partnership with The Albino Foundation TAF Africa, is training the project team on the Washington Group Question to effectively deliver on the census exercise and ensure inclusion of the disabilities community.

While declaring the training open, Director General NPC. Dr Usifo Ojogun said the focus would be on the use of Washington Group Question (WGQ) to administer questions that would promote the inclusion of all citizens.

The Washington Group Question (WGQ) are targeted questions on individuals intended to provide a quick and low-cost way to collect data, which allows disaggregation by disability status.

In his presentation Founder of TAF Africa Mr Jake Epelle pointed out that every program has the right terminology and skills to achieve the expected outcome

The Director of Population Management and Development NPC, Mrs Margret Edison explained that the collaboration with TAF Africa was to equip the NPC team with the needed etiquette for efficient data collection of the PWDs.

A disability consultant Dr Toying Aderemi during her presentation emphasized that accurate data helps in policy development and implementation, monitoring as well as evaluation of disability inclusion.

Earlier the chief Technical Adviser Census for United Nations Population Fund Dr Collins Opiyo, added that the housing and census exercise was apt as it will enhance already existing statistics, ensuring that no one is left behind.
