Bauchi State Chief Judge, Justice Rabi Talatin Umar, has granted freedom to 31 Awaiting Trial Persons (ATPs) from various correctional facilities in the state.
Kanempress observed that this is part of her routine quarterly ATPs review, while emphasizing the importance of good conduct among those released.
It was gathered that during her visit to the Katagum Correctional Service, Justice Rabi expressed concern over the large number of young persons imprisoned for civil and criminal offenses.
She urged the youth to avoid divisive actions and the pursuit of quick riches, encouraging them to take life at a steady pace.
Justice Rabi, however, called upon parents and guardians to nurture their children’s skills and engage them in profitable activities, ensuring a better future for the next generation.
Despite the positive developments, the Chief Judge was troubled by the lack of proper documentation of case files by the police at the Bauchi Custodial Centre.
Also, she urged prosecutors to be diligent in their duties, while highlighting delays in case files at the Ministry of Justice.
