Gombe government sends commissioner-nominees to Assembly

In line with the 60 days constitutional provisions, Gombe State Government has submitted for approval a list of 17 Commissioner-nominees to its House of Assembly.

Secretary to the State Government, Professor Abubakar Njodi, had sent the list of the nominees to the clerk of the Assembly, Rukaiyatu Jalo.

The list of 17 commissioner-nominees would be released by the Speaker, Abubakar Luggerewo, during plenary.

Meanwhile, the report of 2023 Transition Management Committee chaired by Dr Ibrahim Daudu, on 17th July, 2023, recommended that State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya should cut down the number of ministries.

Yahaya had in 2029 reduced the number of ministries from 27 to 21.

Reports say that out of the list of nominees, Governor Yahaya returned five commissioners in his previous administration which include Habu Dahiru (Health), Zubairu Umar (Attorney General), Aishatu Maigari (Education), Gambo Magaji (Finance) and Nasiru Aliyu (Trade and Investment)

Other prominent names include are; Chairman Gombe Internal Revenue Service Salihu Alkali, former chairperson house committee on Women Affairs Asma’u Ignanus.

The comprehensive list consist of professionals in health, law, military, academics and political associates with Abdulkadir Mohammed waziri, Adamu Inuwa Pantami, Barrister Zubairu Umar, Mijinyawa Ardo tilde, Mohammed Shetima gadam, Mohammed Gambo Magaji, Asma’u iganus, Mohammed Saidu Fawu, Aishatu Umar maigari.

Others are Salihu Baba Alkali, Dr Habu Dahiru, Alh Nasiru Aliyu, Barrnabas Malle, Mai jama’a kallamu, Lt. col Abdullahi Bello, Sanusi Ahmed maidala, and Dr Abdullahi Bappah Garkuwa.
