UN condemns ‘unconstitutional change’ in Niger

United Nations has “strongly condemns the unconstitutional change in government” in Niger.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres “strongly condemnation came after Nigerien soldiers announced a coup on national TV, saying they had dissolved the constitution, suspended all institutions and closed the nation’s borders.
Mr Guterres said he was “deeply disturbed” by the detention of President Mohamed Bazoum and was “concerned for his safety and well-being”.
The Secretary-General calls for an immediate end to all actions undermining democratic principles in Niger.
