Today is World Hepatitis Day, where awareness campaigns are being held to eradicate the disease and encourage the community to get tested to find out whether a person is infected with the disease or not.

Research has shown that hepatitis B, which is more common in Africa, is the most dangerous type of disease.

Millions of people are infected with the disease every year without knowing it, which is why there are calls for people to get tested regularly. Doctors have stated that there are about five percent of liver diseases that are contracted either by drinking contaminated water and food or by taking drugs or by being given the wrong blood.

Doctors consider liver disease as a disease because it consumes a person’s strength before it is detected. An expert doctor in Nigeria, Professor Musa Muhammad Borodo, said that the disease is very common in the country, “Two billion people are suffering from liver cancer, while in Nigeria more than 20 million people are suffering from the disease”. He said, “Symptoms of the disease include yellowing of the eyes, fever, and vomiting, unless the disease is severe, it causes hemorrhaging, swelling of the stomach and legs. And if it is unlucky, it affects even if it causes cancer.”

Liver disease is one of the most dangerous diseases affecting the population, which is why the World Health Organization has mobilized to eliminate it by the year 2030, through screening and preventive measures for the public. for small children.
